💙We are excited to have this annual tradition and our 5th Annual Field Day at South Elementary! We appreciate all the planning put into it by Coach Hurst and the assistance of his Specials Team!!
💙Family members are welcome to attend and cheer for their students!
✅️All Visitors must be on the student's contact list in Skyward to be admitted into the school to attend.
🌟💧Families, please remember to apply sunscreen on your child before coming to school and to send in water for your student to drink during the event.
🌟Check Outs- Parents, Family Members, Etc. are REQUIRED to go to the office to check a student out. The student CANNOT go to the office with them. The student will be called for from the office like any other day. **Note: this is a hectic day with a lot going on logistically so if you check your child out, it will be a longer process than normal so be prepared to wait.
🚍Bus 20 is Running about 20-25 minutes behind. The Transportation Dept. appreciates your patience.

It's that time again! I am excited to welcome the bustling energy and vibrant literary magic of the Scholastic Book Fair back to our library.
Parents are invited to shop with their child each morning from 7:45-8:10 a.m. Please also remember to set up an eWallet. eWallets make shopping faster and easier for students, and they eliminate the worry of lost cash during the school day.

Between 8:15 and 8:25 this morning South conducted our annual state required tornado drills. Students and staff did a great job of following all safety practices and procedures! All students are currently safe and in classes learning.💙

🚍Bus 19 (Students who live in Buckhead Ridge Area Only) will have to be picked up by parents at South during dismissal at 2:50 p.m. today. 》》Transportation has just shared that Bus 19 will not be able to pick up students from South who live in Buckhead Ridge because of a road closure on Hwy 78. Transportation appreciates your patience.

▶️Families, we know students will arrive at school in jackets, layered clothing, and closed-toe shoes for the cold weather in the morning, but we also will have indoor recess, Ag, and PE to avoid prolonged time outdoors.

📣 Looking Ahead to the 2026–2027 School Year
Okeechobee County Schools is announcing a series of campus transitions that will take effect beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. These changes are designed to better serve students at every grade level, align programs with the right facilities, and maximize the benefits of recent and upcoming capital investments across the district.
With the completion of the new Okeechobee High School campus, the school will expand to serve students in grades 9–12 full-time. Ninth-grade students will attend school at the new high school campus. This transition provides students with a more cohesive high school experience and expanded access to programs and opportunities.
As part of these changes, secondary students currently enrolled at Okeechobee Achievement Academy will relocate to the former Freshman Campus building. Elementary students participating in the IBP program will transition to Seminole Elementary School. These moves allow academic programs to be better aligned with facilities designed to support student needs and focused services.
In addition, the district will open a new Early Learning Center dedicated exclusively to VPK students. Having VPK as the only students on this campus allows for a safe, welcoming, and age-appropriate environment focused on early childhood development, early literacy, and kindergarten readiness.
To support these transitions, capital improvement projects will take place at the newly configured Okeechobee Achievement Academy and the future Early Learning Center. These improvements will focus on refreshing facilities, enhancing learning spaces, and ensuring students and families are welcomed into modern, engaging environments. The district will also work closely with families to support student transportation needs wherever possible.
These campus transitions reflect a thoughtful, long-term approach to serving students at every stage of their educational journey. Additional details, timelines, and family communications will be shared as planning continues.
