On Thursday, February 19, 2026, Okeechobee County Schools VPK classes took learning on the road with a field trip to the Okeechobee High School construction site as part of their classroom unit on buildings and how they are designed and constructed.
Students were toured through the developing facility by District officials and representatives from Morganti Construction, the project contractor. Throughout the visit, students observed real-world examples of construction concepts they have been exploring in class, including spaces being framed, systems being installed, and the many steps required to transform plans into a finished school.
“This was the perfect way to bring their learning to life,” said Britani Stanley, Director of VPK Programs and recently appointed principal of Pine View Academy, which will house the District’s VPK programs beginning in August 2026. “Our students are naturally curious, and seeing a building come together in real time helps them understand that the places they learn in are thoughtfully designed, carefully built, and made to support their success.”
The experience carried an extra-special meaning for the young learners. These students are expected to graduate as the Class of 2039, making this one of their very first opportunities to see a future campus and imagine the journey ahead.
